November is National Blog Post Month. Personally I think it should be International Blog Post Month, but let's not split hairs.
It's also NaNoWriMo - (Inter)National Novel Writing Month, in which people attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in a month.
And as if that wasn't enough it's NaKniSweMo. (Inter)National Knit a Sweater Month - knit a 50,000 stitch sweater in a month.
Now call me cynical, but it's only seven weeks to Christmas so unless you are planning to present the finished novel to your nearest and dearest on the 25th of December and give the sweater to your Dad, I'm not sure whether November is really the best month for these events.
However, not one to be a total wet blanket I have decided to commit to the first one, and I will blog every day in November. The last post will be from Brussels because we are going there on that weekend.
A sweater.... hmmm, I wonder if I could do that? And why isn't there a NaKniLoSoMo (Inter)National Knit Lots of Socks Month?
The novel. Well that is achievable. I know it is because I did it a few years ago. I wouldn't claim is was publishable you understand, but it had a beginning, a middle and an end. I gave it to three people to read and all of them cried (in the right place, not with despair). It was written for a competition which I only found out about five weeks before the closing date, and I decided to take up the challenge. I spent two days in the Central Library, bought maps of the area I was writing about, scrutinised seed packets and learned about the history of the humble teapot. The novel is in a box somewhere, but maybe I could dig it out.
In an odd case of coincidence, the novel featured Snapdragons, and Ysolda is doing NaBloPoMo too! Why don't you join us? Let me know in the comments and then we can all come and visit.
See you tomorrow...
